- The total student population has grown to more than 5,300 students while maintaining a low student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1 in the traditional undergraduate college.
- In 2007, the university completed a record-breaking capital campaign that yielded $70.3 million. The endowment has increased from $33.1 million to more than $63 million as of June 2007.
- Since 2002, the university has added two new academic buildings, three residence halls, and has completed responsible renovations for two older buildings on campus.

St. Edward's University has been named among the top five "Up-and-Coming Universities" in the Western Region by its academic peers in a U.S. News & World Report survey. College officials were asked to nominate schools ranked in the U.S. News "America's Best Colleges 2010" that are making innovative improvements in academics, faculty, students, campus life, diversity and facilities.

St. Edward's University has been recognized as one of "America's Best Colleges" by Forbes and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP). In their 2009 joint report, Forbes and the CCAP ranked 600 undergraduate institutions based on the quality of the education they provide and the experience and achievements of their students. St. Edward's was ranked in the top 10 among Texas universities.

Awarded Keck Grant for Undergraduate Research on HIV
In 2007, the university was awarded $260,000 from the W.M. Keck Foundation to establish an interdisciplinary undergraduate
research project on HIV drug resistance that will be integrated into the science curriculum.
