Bachelor of Liberal Studies in Psychology with Chemical Dependency
Overview:
As a BLS in Psychology with a Chemical Dependency concentration major, you’ll take classes in a variety of psychological disciplines, with an emphasis on understanding and helping those coping with addiction. You’ll also learn and work with current tests and measurements that psychology professionals use to diagnose and treat substance abuse.
Graduates who obtain LCDC certification work as counselors in adult and youth rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and other social service or clinical settings. They also lead substance abuse prevention programs and clinics, and counsel family members of addicted clients.
This program paves the way to graduate studies in community counseling and marriage and family therapy, among others — and further advancement in counseling and psychology.
