Why I Teach
Each student’s individual story matters to me. My job is to support my students’ learning so they manifest in the world as the powerful, bright, joyful, caring, capable individuals they are meant to be. I strive to deepen their knowledge, their capability for critical analysis and their identities as educators. My intention is to awaken my students’ interest in the connection between education and broader social issues.
Teaching is a calling, a commitment to service and a continual process of learning. I teach because the teaching/learning relationship with students is among the most meaningful I’ve ever experienced.
