Why I Teach

I am passionate about the art courses I teach. My approach is to learn what is important to each student and to help him or her find personal relevance for the subject. My teaching style has much in common with coaching. I listen closely, offer encouragement and give practical exercises to complete. My greatest reward comes from watching students gain new skills and develop their own sensibilities.

I find that my students inspire the direction and outcome of our class work. What we experience in class also influences my work as an artist. For me, this is an ideal environment because teaching fuels my artistic work, and my artistic work fuels my teaching.
