Why I Teach

I am a successful teacher when I accomplish three goals that I set for myself in every class: to be as clear and accurate as possible; to listen closely to my students; and to make a point to connect the material to my students’ life experiences. In the end, I want to help individuals learn to think critically and fair-mindedly.

I teach because I believe it is important for students to have an intellectual “tool kit” that will help them succeed in their lives beyond college. I teach because I enjoy connecting with students, engaging their questions, struggles and stories.
