Why I Teach
Every individual has the potential for creativity. My art studio and classroom offer possibilities for students of all abilities to be challenged and to succeed. Transferring knowledge is only half of what I do as a teacher. Creating an open atmosphere where students feel comfortable and want to learn is an equally important role.
I give students control over specific assignments so they will work more independently and find solutions on their own. My goal is to get them to see how their creative work relates to broader concerns of art, design, aesthetics and the development of visualization. Encouraging students to think through problems and to make use of resources available to them is very important to their ultimate achievement as an artist and other accomplishments in life.
