Why I Teach

My conviction is that any student with the proper prerequisites and the right kind of effort will succeed in my class. A big part of my job is to provide the motivation often needed to learn difficult topics. I try to achieve this by communicating my enthusiasm as well as a careful selection of examples and assignments.

My most memorable teaching experiences involve students who amaze themselves by caring about and truly understanding material that they initially thought to be a complete mystery.
