Why I Teach

My goal is to help my students to integrate knowledge, ethics and their newly developed skills into their future professions. In the classroom, we discuss issues and dilemmas, but we also focus on increasing self-awareness as a major part of the developmental process of becoming a counselor.

As a professor, I look toward my students’ careers, knowing that each of them, over time, may provide counseling and help hundreds of clients. It provides me with deep satisfaction knowing that they can impact so many lives in positive ways through their work.
