Why I Teach
I believe in empowering students to think critically and to challenge expertise and material thoughtfully. As an English professor, I teach my students to approach literature with an open mind and not resist one’s emotional responses to various works. I also honor tradition — however that concept may apply to any given course.
Teaching continues to provide me generous opportunities to learn. I teach because of what students are able to teach me.
