Homecoming 2008: What Stories Will You Tell?

Sign up now for Homecoming 2008We heard a lot of great alumni stories last year at Homecoming. Tales of itchy freshman beanies. Adventures of the East Hall thugs. While the memories may span generations, they all convey the same thing — a sense of community that keeps us connected.

Get ready. Homecoming 2008 is going to be better than ever. In addition to the Alumni Awards, the President’s Welcome and our annual basketball doubleheader, we’ve got an action-packed weekend planned. Included is a brand new event: Hilltop Homegrown, an outdoor picnic and market with Austin flair.

Connect with Your Classmates: Homecoming Reunions
This year, we’ll be hosting events for New College and the School of Education and celebrating the 35th anniversary of CAMP at St. Edward’s. The year also marks a number of special reunions:

  • 25th reunion for the Class of 1983
  • 40th reunion for the Class of 1968
  • Golden Guard Luncheon and 50th reunions for the high school and university classes of 1958

If you’re celebrating one of these milestones, you’ll be hearing from fellow classmates who are coordinating the reunions this year. What comes to mind when they recall their time at St. Edward’s?

  • Rose Shuler, ’83, describes the Class of 1983 as “sagacious,” while Michael G. Guerra, ’83, fondly remembers the wise lot as a “family.”
  • Thomas Carrasquillo, ’68, related his greatest accomplishment at
St. Edward’s: meeting his wife of 37 years “who is still the love of my life.”  Roberto Treviño, ’68, described his biggest mistake: “Almost getting on disciplinary probation my freshman year for singing the original lyrics of Louie, Louie at a talent show.”
