University Forges Ahead with Summer Construction Projects

To minimize the impact of construction projects on students, St. Edward’s plans to complete two large-scale projects during the summer:

  • The Casa, offering house-style campus living for upperclassmen
  • A four-level parking garage east of the softball field

In addition, work will begin late Fall 2007 on a new 300,000-square-foot residence hall, which will provide a second dining facility on campus and housing for 300 students.

The Casa, a larger version of the Casitas, will open its doors in August for 70 upperclassmen. Located adjacent to Moreau and Dujarié halls, the building will reflect the design of the neighboring residence halls. The townhouse-style floor plans offer single bedrooms along with common living areas and shared bathrooms.

Even More Parking Options with Four-Level Garage
To meet the needs of our growing university community, St. Edward’s will unveil a four-level parking garage that offers safe parking at a reasonable daily fee. Located on a portion of the existing parking lot east of the Diane Daniels Softball Field, the garage will contain 756 spaces — all within a five-minute walk to the center of campus.

Plus, by keeping cars parked on the perimeter, we’ll preserve more green space in the center of campus, ensuring it remains pedestrian friendly for all visitors, students, faculty and staff members, and alumni.
