I received both my Bachelor of Arts in English and Master of Arts in Communication Education degrees from the University of Iowa and my PhD in Organizational Communication from the University of Texas at Austin. I teach Effective College Learning, First Year Seminars (in Communication Studies & Business), and serve occasionally as an adjunct instructor of communication studies. In hope of discovering my latent genius, I have taken courses recently in watercolor, drawing, & poetry writing. As of this writing, that search continues. |

Marcy Carbajal VanHorn |
| OWL Lab Coordinator |
I earned my B.A. in International Studies at Pepperdine University and my M.A. in TESL/Applied Linguistics at St. Michael’s College. In the last decade, I’ve zigzagged across the continent—from California to New England, down to Mexico and Florida—teaching college-level English and composition courses at each stop. I became an English instructor, in part, because I love studying other languages and how languages are learned. Stop by my office to talk about grammar (really, it can be interesting!), to talk about writing handbooks (I contribute to Diana Hacker’s), or to help me practice my waning German and Spanish skills (bitte--necesito practicar). |
