Getting Involved in Campus Life

Obtaining a college degree is more than accumulating credit hours, attendance, exams, and research papers. A sense of belonging is a fundamental need. By giving of themselves, students can create a sense of belonging and community. Campus clubs, events, and activities can create a new sense of community for you. They allow you to develop a support system of people who are facing the same problems and changes as you are. At St. Edward's University there are a number of alternatives to becoming engaged in campus life. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your APSS academic counselor.

Intramurals

Don't want to let all those hard won athletic skills go to waste? Looking for a way to try out your new court moves on a fellow Hilltopper? Just looking for a healthy study break? Check out the St. Edward's University intramural program. The home run derby, softball, basketball, golf, soccer, flag football, and sand volleyball have all been on the menu. Get your crew together and join us!
Visit the intramurals section of the athletic web site for more information.

Campus Ministry

Seeking to develop your heart and mind? Campus ministry is open to people of all faiths as they transform themselves, their relations with people, and their relationship with God. Mass, silent meditation, retreats, sacramental preparation, and community service projects of all kinds are available to the St. Edward's community. Are you interested in an Alternative Spring Break, the Egg Ministry, or volunteering at a local non-profit organization? Campus Ministry is your connection to these and many other options.
More information is provided on the Campus Ministry web site.

Student Life

Studies indicate that students who are involved in their campus community are more likely to learn leadership and communication skills, teamwork, conflict resolution techniques, time management, and responsibility. Programming, training, and involvement empower students to think critically and creatively, analyze problems, propose solutions, and make responsible decisions. These skills are more than academic skills.they are life skills. Looking for ways to meet people that have similar extra curricular interests as you? Join a Special Interest Student Organization like the Chess Club, the Environmental Club, or the Photography Club. If there is not a club that meets your needs.talk to a student life staff member about starting your own club.what a resume builder! Clubs are also available for community service, cultural exchanges, honor societies, and academic and professional mentoring. Are you ready to take on a leadership position on campus? Think about joining the student government association or the university programming board or one of the other chartered organizations on campus.
More information and staff contact information is available on the Student Life web site.
