Scholarships and Fellowships
Advice for Sophmores

Academics

  • You should be getting closer to selecting a major. As you contemplate your future goals, speak with your advisor and professors regarding majors that would be appropriate for you.

  • If you are struggling to pin down the ideal major, visit Career Planning and take an interest inventory test or two.

Extracurricular Activities

As you settle into your routine, you have discovered some worthwhile activities. Are you making a difference? Do you feel that the activities are compatible with your values?

  • Consider continuing study in a foreign language. Several of the scholarship programs require knowledge of the language in the country.

  • Leadership positions such as resident advisor or student government representative are helpful and look great on your resume.

  • It's time to get serious about investigating junior year study abroad activities. If you are interested, there are scholarships for studying abroad.

Scholarships for sophomores to consider include:

  • Barry Goldwater- specializing in the sciences

  • Study Abroad Scholarships

  • Begin to think about post-undergraduate scholarships and fellowships.
