Student Disability Services (SDS) provides ongoing student support to ensure a positive outcome of the St. Edward’s University experience. This support is available for all students with disabilities in order for them to receive the necessary academic and social skills for success. Accommodations are granted on an individual basis according to the academic needs of each student and current documentation (within 3 years) from a certified professional.
Student Disability Services assists students with:
- Medical disabilities, such as diabetes, asthma, migraines
- Learning disabilities, such as a reading disorder, math disorder, ADHD
- Psychiatric disabilities, such as depression, anxiety, Asperger's Syndrome
SDS can provide qualifying students with extended time on tests, quiet, alternate location to take exams, negotiable course deadlines and attendance with instructor input, books in alternate format and recordings for the blind and dyslexic.
It is the responsibility of Student Disability Services to provide all qualifying students appropriate and reasonable accommodations in keeping with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and The Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
