In college you will have
much more responsibility for the request and arrangement of academic
accommodations than you have had before. It will benefit you to
know about your disability. If you have a Learning Disability,
know your academic strengths and your areas of learning difficulty.
If possible, talk with a learning disability specialist or your
teachers about your strengths and weaknesses in school. In what
ways have your instructors, tutors or personal study methods improved
your learning?

Make an appointment with your disability counselor at the beginning
of each semester. You may want to set up weekly or bimonthly appointments
during your first two semesters to monitor your academic progress.
Your SDS counselor will make every effort to be available to you,
but will not contact you. It is your responsibility to make and
keep all appointments. |
