Melinda Terry was named the head athletic trainer in the summer of 2004.

Terry comes to St. Edward's University after spending eight years at University of Texas–Arlington where she started as the assistant athletic trainer/instructor in 1996 and was promoted to associate athletic trainer in 1998. Her responsibilities in that role included overseeing women’s basketball team travel, assisting with athletic training in 14 sports, managing inventory and ordering supplies, education and supervision of 20 student athletic trainers and assisting with the athletic insurance program.

In 2002, UT–Arlington named her head athletic trainer and in 2003, assistant athletic director for sports medicine and student services. She also served as the senior women’s administrator for four years.

Prior to her tenure at UT, Terry was an athletic trainer at Permian High School in Odessa from 1985 to 1989 and an assistant athletic trainer at Duncanville High School from 1989 to 1996.

In 1983 she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University and a Master of Science from West Texas State University in 1985. She also served as the graduate assistant athletic trainer while at West Texas State University.
