The St. Edward’s University cheerleading squad provides spirit for volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball games and serves as ambassadors of the university at events on and off campus. As athletes themselves, the cheerleaders also represent the university by participating in cheer competitions.
Being a St. Edward’s University cheerleader requires dedication and commitment, and a desire to grow as an athlete. Practices are currently held Mondays and Wednesdays from 2–4 p.m. and Tuesday (conditioning) from 7–8 a.m. Scholarships are awarded based upon tenure and leadership capabilities.
The cheerleaders attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College Camp at Texas State University this summer. At the camp, they earned three All-Around trophies for Most Improved Squad, 2nd place for Fight song routine and 3rd place for Cheer routine.
