
Brenda Niemeyer begins her first season as head coach of the St. Edward’s women’s tennis program.
Niemeyer comes to the hilltop after three seasons as head professional for the Northside Independent School District and the Annemarie Tennis Center in San Antonio. Prior to NISD, she served as head coach at UT–San Antonio for seven years. During her time at UT–San Antonio, Niemeyer complied a career record of 91-60. She led the team to the Southland Conference Tournament championship and to the school’s first-ever NCAA tournament in 2002. She also guided the team to a Southland Conference championship in 2003. Niemeyer produced 43 all-conference performers and was named Southland Conference Coach of the Year in 2003 as the Roadrunners compiled a 21-4 record.
Niemeyer is very active in the community, having served on numerous boards and committees. She is currently a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association, United States Tennis Association, Texas Tennis Association, and the San Antonio Tennis Association (SATA). She has been recognized for her work by receiving the SATA Community Service Award and the Special Olympics Award for Outstanding Work.
Outside of coaching, Niemeyer has actively played tennis since high school. Her accomplishments include: a junior college national championship, and a consistent top three ranking in Texas Women's Singles and Doubles. She also won a national championship in doubles at the National Women's 30's Tournament.
Niemeyer received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from UT–San Antonio in 1985.
