David Martin begins his first season as assistant coach of the St. Edward’s men’s basketball program. Martin comes to the hilltop after serving as an assistant coach on men’s basketball head coach Andre Cook’s staff at Hudson Valley Community College for the past four seasons. During that time, Martin helped lead the Vikings to a 103-26 (.798) record. The squad won conference in 2007–2008 and 2008–2009, advanced to the regional tournament both seasons, and finished third in the nation in 2008–2009. The Vikings had an amazing 30-1 record in 2007–2008, and followed up with a 32-4 record in 2008–2009. Martin also coached one season at Troy High School where he was the junior varsity head coach assistant coach for the varsity.

Martin’s playing experience included four years at NCAA Division II College of St. Rose. He helped lead the team to an East Coast Athletic Conference Championship during his freshman season and a spot in the NCAA Division II national tournament during his junior season. Martin served as a team captain and was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Honor Roll during his senior season. He played four years at Hudson Falls High School when Cook was the head coach. Martin ended his prep career as the school’s third all-time leading scorer.

Martin received his bachelor’s degree in Interdepartmental Studies from The College of St. Rose in 2005.
