Hilltopper Academics excel in Heartland Conference awards
DALLAS, Texas - The St. Edward's University athletic department ranked near the top of the conference in a study released this week by the Heartland Conference.
St. Edward's student-athletes had a combined GPA of 3.23, which tied them for second in the Heartland Conference with Dallas Baptist (3.23). Newman (3.30) earned the top honor in the conference. The Hilltoppers were one of five schools to finish with an overall department GPA of over 3.0. In the women only GPA, St. Edward's was second in the conference and was third in the men's category.
The Hilltopper baseball (3.12), men's cross country (3.57), volleyball (3.63), women's soccer (3.54) and women's tennis (3.69) teams all finished with the highest GPA for their respective sport within the conference. Both Newman and Dallas Baptist placed three teasm each in the top slot, while Dallas Baptist added two teams.
