Cook elected to Watervliet High School Hall of Fame
WATERVLIET, N.Y. - St. Edward's Men's Basketball Head Coach Andre Cook was elected to the Second Annual Watervliet High School Hall of Fame this past weekend.
Cook is in his first year with the St. Edward's men's basketball team.
Cook played four years at Watervliet High School where he started 67 of 82 games in his career. He scored 1211 points in his career, which is fifth-most in school history. He averaged 24.5 ppg his senior year and 15.6 ppg during his career. He was captain of the basketball team that was 23-1 in his senior year, capturing the Colonial Council Championship for the fifth year in a row and the Class "CC" Championship. He was the MVP of the Colonial Council, The Troy Record Player of the Year, Times Union All-Area Team, Schenectady Gazette All-Area Team, and was named to the Channel 13 All-Star team. He was also named Watervliet HS "Male Athlete of the Year" his senior year.
After graduating from Watevliet High, Cook went on to a successful collegiate career at Skidmore College where he led the team to their first-ever postseason tournament and is a member of the school's 1000-point club.
After his playing days, Cook spent time as head coach at Hudson Falls High School and Hudson Valley Community College, before becoming the head coach at St. Edward's University this August.
"I am tremendously humbled and honored to be inducted into my high school's hall of fame," Cook said. "I was blessed to grow up in a wonderful community and to have so many coaches and teachers at Watervliet who helped me. It was great to be able to go back home and thank all of them."
