Hilltopper Men’s Basketball picked fourth in Preseason Poll

DALLAS, Texas - The St. Edward's University men's basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the Heartland Conference in the annual Heartland Conference Preseason Poll on Wednesday. The poll was voted on by conference coaches and sports information directors.

After finishing fourth last season with a 17-11 overall record and 11-5 conference record, St. Edward's will enter the 2009-10 season with a new look. First-year head coach Andre Cook will introduce a new style of play and eight newcomers.

Dallas Baptist was picked to win the conference, followed by last year's champion, Incarnate Word, and with St. Mary's in the third position.

St. Edward's will travel to take on UT-Pan American and former Hilltopper head coach Ryan Marks on November 7th in Edinburg at 7 p.m. Their regular season will open November 15-16 when they host Texas A&M-Commerce and Midwestern State in the St. Edward's Shootout.
