Fuentes takes Heartland Conference individual title, Hilltoppers place fourth

AUSTIN, Texas - St. Edward's senior David Fuentes finished first and helped lead the men's cross country team to a 4th place finish at the Heartland Conference Championship.

Fuentes finished in first place with a time of 25:43. Also competing for the Hilltoppers were junior Cody Beaman (28:32) who finished in 13th place, sophomore Alex Gay (29:01) who finished in 16th place, and junior Julio Vazquez (29:55) who finished in 23rd place. Senior Ben Palmer (31:36) ended in 34th place, sophomore Jeff Thomas (33:44) ended in 39th place, junior Dan O'Dwyer (34:03) ended in 40th place, and freshman Steve Danko (40:57) ended in 57th place.

St. Edward's (2:24:49) finished in fourth place.  Incarnate Work (2:18:18) took first in the event.  Dallas Baptist (2:22:15) and Newman (2:22:52) came in second and third place, respectively.
