Fuentes wins 5000 meters at University of Houston Indoor Invitational
HOUSTON, Texas - Junior David Fuentes took home first place honors in the 500 meters at the University of Houston Indoor Invitational this past weekend.
Fuentes, who was running unattached, ran a time of 15:27.68, narrowly defeating Rice's Brad Morris by four seconds. He defeated 16 Division I participants on his way to the finish line.
Fuentes was the Heartland Conference Cross Country Individual Champion this past fall for the second-straight season and was named Heartland Conference Runner of the Year. He also competed in the NCAA Regional for the second-straight year and was the first Hilltopper to advance to the National Meet.
