Fuentes has good showing at first-ever NCAA Championship
JOPLIN, Mo. - Junior David Fuentes competed at the 2007 NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Championships Saturday finishing 53rd in a field of 187 runners.
Fuentes, a Boerne, Texas, native, finished eighth among runners competing as individuals with a time of 31:59. The junior finished first at the Heartland conference Meet and was named Heartland Conference Runner of the Year for the second-straight season. Fuentes followed that up with seventh-place finish at the Regional Meet two weeks ago.
This appearance was the first-ever by a St. Edward's Cross Country athlete in the NCAA National Cross Country Meet.
Abilene Christian won the team title, while the Wildcats' Nicodemus Naimadu won the individual title.
