Hilltoppers continue climb up leaderboard, finish day three tied for third

HOUSTON, Texas - The 7th-ranked St. Edward's men's golf team continued its climb up the leaderboard, shooting a third-round 286 to move up to a tie for third place at Memorial Park Golf Club at the NCAA National Tournament.

St. Edward's (284-285-286=855) is 12 shots behind leader West Florida (292-275-276=843).  Georgia College and State (287-272-288=847) is in second place, while North Alabama (290-281-284=855) and Indianapolis (280-284-291=855).

Junior Andrew Workman (70-69-70=209) continued his strong play, shooting a one-under par to move up to a tie for fourth place.  Sophomore Collin Mayer (72-71-70=213) is tied for 19th place. Sophomore Matt Smith (71-73-73=217) is tied for 45th place while senior Jeff Howard (71-76-73=220) is tied for 61st place.  Freshman Matthew Hatcher (72-72-78=222) is tied for 79th place.

West Florida's Kyle Scott (72-65-70=207) leads the tournament with his teammate Matthew Galloway (73-70-65=208) and South Carolina-Aiken's Jeff Goff (67-71-70=208) just one shot back of the lead.  Workman and Western Washington's Sean Packer (69-69-71=208) are tied for fourth place.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action Saturday with the final round.  They will begin their tee times at 12:00 p.m. with the last player to tee off at 12:30 p.m.
