Hilltoppers finishes strong at St. Edward’s Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The 18th-ranked St. Edward's golf team took advantage of some friendly competition in order to push themselves harder at the St. Edward's Invitational.

St. Edward's entered a Blue and Gold team in the tournament and both teams finished in the top three. The St. Edward's Gold team (297-316-308=921) finished the day in second place, while the St. Edward's Blue Team (297-316-312=925) finished in third.

Dallas Baptist (298-309-301=908) claimed the tournament championship.  Texas A&M-Commerce (304-314-309=927) and St. Mary's (310-301-317=928) rounded out the top five.

For the Blue team, freshman Santiago Quintero (69-73-73=215) led the team and the finished atop the individual leader board at the conclusion of the tournament. UC-San Diego's Keith Okasaki (74-70-75=219) finished in second place.

Individually, on the Gold team, senior Andrew Workman (72-75-80=227) led the way finishing in a tie for sixth. Also finishing in the Top 20 was junior Matthew Hatcher (76-79-74=229) who tied for 12th and junior Collin Mayer (76-77-79=232) who placed 19th.

St. Edward's will be back in action March 9th as the team will travel to San Juan Capistrano, California to participate in the So.-Cal. Invitational.
