St. Edward’s finishes eighth at NSU Shark Invitational
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - The third-ranked St. Edward's men's golf team finished eighth in the NSU Shark Invitational at the Par 72, 6,806 yard Haig Course at PGA National on Tuesday afternoon.
St. Edward's (303-295-299=897) finished four shots behind host Nova Southeastern (301-294-298=893) who ended in fifth place. Both Barry and Lynn ran away with the tournament with Barry (286-282-282=850) taking home the team title and Lynn (282-281-290=853) finishing in second place.
Individual results for the Hilltoppers were seniors Matthew Hatcher (74-76-74=224) and Collin Mayer (70-75-79=224) both tying for 30th place. Junior Mitch Cahill (83-72-70=225) shot the only under-par round of day two for the Hilltoppers with a two-under par 70. He finished tied for 34th place. Freshman Brad Lyle (76-77-77=230) ended tied for 48th place and senior Matt Smith (84-72-78=234) tied for 55th place.
Barry's Chris Carlin (75-67-66=208) defeated the field of 75 golfers, with his closest competitors three shots back.
St. Edward's has one more tournament this fall on October 26-27, when they compete in the Rollins Invitational. The two-day event will take place at the Forest Lake Golf Club in Ocoee, Fla.
