Hilltopper men’s soccer raises money for Cancer Foundation for Life

2009 Pam Nannen Classic

AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's men's soccer team held its first-annual Pam Nannen Memorial Classic last Friday in conjunction with its match against Newman.

The Hilltoppers sold pink t-shirts during the game, accepted donations from fans, and even wore pink warm-up tops before the game. The team ended the day by raising more than $600 that was donated to the Cancer Foundation for Life.

The event was in memory of Pam Nannen (mother to Hilltopper senior Josh Nannen), who lost her life to cancer on July 23, 2009.

"It is our honor to raise money and awareness for the foundation in memory of Pam Nannen," head coach Brian Young said. "We look forward to continuing and growing this event in the future."

To top it off, St. Edward's also ended up winning the match, 2-0 and solidifying its spot at the top of the Heartland Conference standings.
