Hilltopper Men's Tennis ends season with national rankings
SKILLMAN, N.J. - The St. Edward's men's tennis team advanced to the NCAA DII Sweet 16 for the third time in the last four years and the final team and individual rankings show just how successful the team was this season.
The squad ended the year ranked 15th in the nation which is the second highest ranking in school history.
Junior Brett Powers, who compiled a 16-17 record at the number one singles position this season, is ranked 42nd in the nation. In doubles, Powers teamed up with sophomore Mick Walter to go 16-12, finished rankedĀ 16th in the country.
The Hilltoppers (15-12) were knocked out in the round of 16 in the NCAA National Tournament by Hawaii Pacific, 5-1. St. Edward's began the season 4-9, but rebounded to win 11 of its last 14 matches.
