Hilltopper Women’s Basketball picked third in Preseason Poll
DALLAS, Texas - The St. Edward's University women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Heartland Conference in the annual Heartland Conference Preseason Poll on Wednesday. The poll was voted on by conference coaches and sports information directors.
After finishing fourth last season with a 15-13 overall record and 9-5 conference record, St. Edward's will enter the 2009-10 season looking to advance to their first-ever NCAA Regional.
Incarnate Word was picked to win the conference, followed by last year's champion, St. Mary's, and with Newman in the fourth position.
St. Edward's will travel to take on NCAA Division I powerhouse Baylor in an exhibition game on November 3 in Waco. Their regular season will open November 20-21 when they host Abilene Christian and Angelo State in the St. Edward's Shootout.
