St. Edward's impress at Texas State Invitational

SAN MARCOS, TexasJunior David Fuentes finished third overall and the St. Edward’s Men’s Cross Country team finished eight at the Texas State Invitational Saturday morning.  The women’s squad ended in 12th place Saturday afternoon.

For the men’s squad, Fuentes finishes just behind Kyle Miller and Habben Berhane for third place.  The junior tallied a time of 26:07 which was eight seconds behind second place and 31 seconds behind first place.

Also competing for the Hilltoppers were freshman Dustin Tarver (29:46) who finished 48th, freshman Cody Beamon (29:48) who finished 50th, senior Jason Alvarez (25:15) who finished 84th, sophomore Dan O’Dwyer (35:38) who finished 87th, and freshman Jeff Thomas (36:10) who finished 88th.

On the women’s side, freshman Lara Abbot (21:09) landed in 42nd place, while freshman Sarah Ortiz (22:27) finished 62nd, senior Lauren Sparks (24:58) finished 79th, junior Kevyn Oakes (25:04) finished freshman Allisa Stintzi (25:14) finished 81st, freshman Stephanie Mercado (25:17) finished 82nd, senior Jane Rogers (25:39) finished 84th, and junior Reva Grimball (30:37) who finished 91st.

Both squads will be back in action Sept. 21st when they take part in the UT-San Antonio Meet.  The event has not scheduled a starting time at this moment in San Antonio, Texas.
