Hilltoppers fall to fourth after second round of NCAA Division II West Regional
PHOENIX, Ariz. - The 13th-ranked St. Edward's women's golf team fell out of first place down to fourth in the 2008 NCAA Division II West Regional Tournament Tuesday afternoon at The Legacy Golf Club.
St. Edward's (312-311=623) is seven shots behind Western Washington (319-297=616) who is on top. They are also four shots out of second place in which Tarleton State (318-301=619) holds steady.
Senior Allison Kinser (76-76=152) leads the Hilltoppers, finishing the second round tied for sixth place, while freshman Alex Smith (79-75=154) moved up to a tie for 11th place. Sophomore Jacqueline Struck (78-81=159) is tied for 19th place. Junior April Fields (79) is in 21st place and senior Kelly Rigsby (82-79=161) is tied for 22nd place.
The three-day event will continue Wednesday when the field competes in the third and final round of the tournament at The Legacy Golf Club. The top two teams, along with the top two individuals will advance to Houston, Texas for the National Tournament.
