Yeatts and Bennett earn All-American Honorable Mentions
AUSTIN, Texas - Senior Kelsey Yeatts and freshman Bethany Bennett received honorable mentions on the 2008 Daktronics NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-America Team. This is the first time for both players to be named to the NCAA Division II All-America team.
Yeatts ended her career as a Hilltopper in grand fashion as this is one of the numerous honors she has received. Along with this honorable mention on the All-America Team, Yeatts also made the first-team South Central All-Region and the first-team All-Heartland Conference as she led the defense. Yeatts added five assists to the Hilltopper offense as she also helped the defense earn 10 shutouts.
For Bennett, this honor caps off an amazing beginning to her career on the hilltop. She also earned a place with Yeatts on the first-teams of both the South Central All-Region and the All-Heartland Conference for her play in the midfield of the Hilltopper attack. Bennett scored one goal and contributed a team-leading six assists in her first season at St. Edward's.
Yeatts and Bennett helped the Hilltoppers to a 13-3-1 record and a second place in the Heartland Conference with a 10-1-1 record. The women's soccer team showed amazing consistency at home as they finished the season 8-1-1 at the SEU Soccer Field.
