Aimee Vaughn named Assistant Softball Coach at St. Edward’s

AUSTIN, Texas - St. Edward's University Head Softball Coach Amy Coulter announced the hiring of Aimee Vaughn as Assistant Softball coach. Vaughn comes to St. Edward's after serving as assistant coach on the softball staff at Texas State since 2006.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to work with Aimee," Coulter said. "She is a great fit for not only the softball program, but the university and the St. Edward's Community."

While at Texas State, Vaughn was responsible for coaching the infield, player development, recruiting, organizing the team's booster club ("Upper Deck"), alumni relations, scouting reports, team travel and game contracts. She helped lead the Bobcats to a South Conference Championship, South conference Tournament Championship and a spot in the NCAA Regional in Waco. There the Bobcats picked up a regional win. She helped guide players on the team to capture the Southland Conference Freshman, Pitcher and Player of the Year honors in 2009.

Prior to Texas State, she was an assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin from 2002-05. While at SFA, Vaughn was the hitting and infield coach

Vaughn finished her collegiate career as a member of the Alabama-Birmingham softball team in 2002. While at UAB, Vaughn played third base and started all 61 games. She was tied for the team lead in home runs and was second in RBIs. Vaughn also played two seasons at Gulf Coast Community College where she was named first-team all-conference and to the NJCAA National All-Tournament Team her freshman season. She was also named honorable-mention all-state.

"I am very excited to be a part of St. Edward's University and the softball program under Head Coach Amy Coulter," Vaughn said. "I look forward to being more involved in on-the-field coaching."

The New Orleans, La. native holds a bachelor's degree in Communication from UAB. She also graduated from Texas State with a master's degree in Physical Education with a specialization in sports management.

The St. Edward's Athletic Department had another successful year winning five Heartland Conference Championships. In the past three years, the Hilltoppers have captured 19 Heartland Conference titles. The St. Edward's Athletic Department produced 133 all-conference performers and tallied a 3.18 GPA during the 2008-09 academic year.
