St. Edward’s Softball names Rogers assistant coach

Jessica Rogers

AUSTIN, Texas - St. Edward's head softball coach Amy Coulter has announced the hiring of Jessica Rogers as assistant coach for the Hilltopper softball program.

"I am very excited to have Jessica on our staff," Coulter said. "She is a very bright and energetic person and will be an amazing coach. She will step right in and take over the infield and help with the catchers. I look forward to working with her."

Rogers, who was a four-year letterwinner at Texas-San Antonio from 2003 to 2007, was the volunteer assistant coach for her alma mater in 2008. As a player, she was named first-team all-conference all four seasons and was the Southland Conference Player and Hitter of the Year in 2005. Rogers was also an academic all-american, Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year, and Texas-San Antonio Female Student-Athlete of the Year. The Roadrunners reached the NCAA Regional her sophomore and junior seasons.

The Grand Prairie, Texas native also coached the San Antonio Gator Girls in the Girl's Fastpitch League in San Antonio. Rogers replaces former assistant coach, Lindsay Gardner, who resigned to take on a larger role with her professional team; the Rockford Thunder of the National Pro Fastpitch League.
