St. Edward’s University Softball’s Phillips signs professional contract with Rockford Thunder

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Former St. Edward's University softballer Mandy Phillips has signed a contract to play for the Rockford Thunder of the National Pro Fastpitch League.

Phillips has appeared in three games, tallying two at-bats and scoring one run. The Thunder are currently in fifth place, sitting five games behind the defending champion, Washington Glory. Rockford advanced to the championship series last season, falling to Washington three games to one.

Also playing for Rockford is St. Edward's assistant coach Lindsay Gardner. The second-year coach for the Hilltoppers is fourth on the team with a .275 batting average and has registered a team-high seven runs batted in on 14 hits. She was featured in the Rockford Register Star as the "crowd favorite" at Thunder home games. Click here for the story.
