Hilltopper Women's Tennis ends season with highest national ranking in school history

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The St. Edward's women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA DII Sweet 16 for the first time in school history and the final team and individual rankings show just how successful the team was this season.

The squad ended the year ranked 14th in the nation which is the highest ranking in school history.

Freshman Audrey Tompkins, who compiled a 15-11 record playing mainly at the number one singles position this season, is ranked 50th in the nation. In doubles, Tompkins teamed up with senior Regina DelBosque to go 23-6, finished ranked 17th in the country.

The Hilltoppers (18-7) were knocked out in the round of 16 in the NCAA National Tournament by the eventual national champions Armstrong Atlantic, 5-1. St. Edward's began the season 6-6, but rebounded to win 12 of its last 13 matches.
