Hilltoppers defeat Dallas Baptist, 5-0, advance to Heartland Conference Championship
AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's women's tennis team defeated Dallas Baptist, 5-0, Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the Heartland Conference Tournament at the South Austin Tennis Center.
St. Edward's won all three doubles matches which included a 9-8 victory at the number three position. Sophomore Caryn McGraw and junior Janelle Otero combined to defeat Brittany McCleary and Candis Minor in a tiebreaker.
In singles play, sophomore Giselle Lopez easily defeated Lisa Olian, 6-0, 6-1, at the number three position, and Otero downed McCleary, 6-2, 6-3, at the number four position for the clinching point.
The Hilltoppers will take on top-seeded Incarnate Word on Saturday in the championship match. The mtach will begin at 10 a.m. at the South Austin Tennis Center.
