Hilltoppers lose close one to Incarnate Word, 5-3
AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker to Incarnate Word, 5-3, in the championship match of the Heartland Conference Tournament Saturday morning at the South Austin Tennis Center.
St. Edward's took one match in doubles play with junior Regina DelBosque and sophomore Giselle Lopez teamed up to defeat Chandra Capozzi and Sarah Carswell, 8-4.
In singles play, DelBosque defeated Capozzi, 6-2, 6-3, at the number one positiion, while Lopez downed Nadia Pope, 6-2, 6-1, at the number three position. From there, Incarnate Word won matches at the number four, five, and six positions to take the championship.
St. Edward's ends its season at 6-13, playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation.
