St. Edward’s Women’s Tennis signs three of the Top 25 seniors in Texas
AUSTIN, Texas - Head Coach Russell Sterns announce the signing of three highly touted Texas high school seniors to join the St. Edward's Women's tennis team Wednesday morning.. High School Seniors Audrey Tompkins, Alexandra Henry and Mary Bain all signed with the Hilltoppers for the 2008-09 season. All three are listed in the top 25 prospects in the state of Texas by the Tennis Recruiting Network.
Audrey Tompkins is a senior from Katy Taylor High School. Tompkins played No. 1 singles and doubles on a team that reached the State Semifinals in 2007. Last spring she was a state 5A finalist in doubles with another Hilltopper signee Alexandra Henry. Tompkins is currently listed as the #16 senior in the state of Texas by TennisRecruting.net. She chose St. Edward's over Allegheny, Idaho, Northern Colorado, SMU, Trinity and West Virginia.
Alexandra Henry is also a senior at Katy Taylor High School. She played #1 singles and doubles in 2006 and paired with Tompkins to finish runner up in the 2007 Texas 5A doubles championship. She is currently listed as the #17 senior in the state of Texas by TennisRecruiting.net. She chose St. Edward's over Abilene Christian, SMU, Stephen F. Austin and Wyoming.
Mary Bain is a senior from Lake Travis High School. Bain advanced to the fourth round at the 2007 Texas Sectional Championships in College Station in May. She is listed as the #21 senior in the State of Texas by TennisRecruting.net.
