What opportunities can you expect in the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences?

You'll gain firsthand knowledge in your major and prepare for a range of careers. Each major incorporates hands-on learning like internships and study abroad. Depending on your major, you could:

  • Conduct hands-on research alongside professors and research assistants in the Psychology Laboratory
  • Assist crime scene investigators from Austin Police Department
  •  Help protect the Edwards Aquifer with Save our Springs Alliance

Plus, faculty members will help you find opportunities with federal, state or local government agencies; public office holders, including Texas and U.S. representatives; and nonprofit or service organizations, such as Children's Hospital, the Johnson Wildflower Center and SafePlace.

Most of all, you will learn to understand and think critically about human behavior, social institutions, world cultures and social justice.
