Tom Sechrest, PhDDirector, MSOLE Program Every organization, regardless of it size, structure, and product or service mix, needs leaders who are prepared to meet the challenges of the global economy. This requires broad-based leadership development that focuses on:
- Ethical responsibilities
- An understanding of the complex issues facing contemporary organizations
- The vision to achieve solutions consistent with organizational mission and values
- The skill to initiate and sustain organizational change
- An awareness that the dynamic tension between relationship and task is instrumental to leadership success
Using an innovative, accelerated cohort-based approach, the Master of Science in Organizational Leadership and Ethics, or MSOLE, examines leadership as a process rather than a function, a journey rather than a destination and an opportunity to make a difference. We believe that leadership is driven by who you are, not solely by what you do. Focusing on integration and synthesis — melding together life and work experiences with structured classroom interaction — the MSOLE program attempts to transform morally courageous adult learners into practitioner-scholars who are able to effectively ground their practice in broad-based knowledge of ethical leadership, deep insight into personal values, thoughtful recognition of organizational pathways and impediments, and conscious recognition of their responsibilities to the world community. The program prepares students to effectively lead the organizations of the future.
The MSOLE program is delivered in seven-week sessions, with 3.5 hours of class per week. Courses cover a full-semester of material in this accelerated format. Each student is expected to take two seven-week sessions per semester, three semesters per year, which enables them to complete the 36-hour course requirement in two calendar years. Except for electives that occur twice during the curriculum, students take all of their courses with the same “cohort,” enabling them to develop close relationships and a similarly-educated professional network they can maintain after graduation. Admissions are made during the fall and spring semesters.
I invite you to consider joining the MSOLE program. If I can answer any questions for you or if you would like to arrange to visit a class, please let me know. |
