MAHS Concentration: Human Resource Management

The Human Resource Management concentration is a comprehensive study of best practices for leading and developing employees. Assuming students meet all other qualifications, the Human Resource Management (SHRM) course (MGMT 6307) is designed to prepare students to sit for the Society for Human Resource Management examination. Courses in the concentration focus on the challenges presented by an international workforce, development and training issues, compensation systems, and labor relations.

In additional to the core courses (18 hours), students in this concentration must successfully complete four required courses (12 hours) and complete two elective courses for which they meet prerequisites (six hours) with a GPA of 3.0 or above for the degree.

Core Courses: (18 hours)

All degree-seeking MAHS students must successfully complete the following six core courses:
HSCO 6311 Planning, Programming, Budgeting: Review and Analysis
HSCO 6313 Organizational Management in Human Services
HSCO 6314 Leadership Development in Group Relations
HSCO 6315 Legal and Ethical Issues in Human Services
HSCO 6316 Methods of Research
HSCO 6317 Systemic Intervention

Concentration: 12 hours

HSAD 6330 Project Management and Evaluation
MGMT 6307 Human Resource Management (SHRM)
MGMT 6308 Human Performance Improvement
MGMT 6310 Compensation Management

Elective Courses: 6 hours
