Policies for Overlimits and Late Adds

School of Management and Business students may add and drop courses via the EdWeb system from the beginning of the registration period to the Add/Drop Date deadline. Consequently, course enrollment numbers change on a daily basis and closed classes may develop openings before the start of the semester.

Students who have been unsuccessful in adding a required class through the EdWeb process because the class reached the enrollment limit may petition the Dean of the School of Management and Business for over-limit admission by the following steps:

  • Obtain a standard Closed Course (Over-Limit) Enrollment Request form from the School of Management and Business Office, Trustee Hall 321. (E-mail requests will NOT be accepted.)
  • Complete the form and hand-deliver or fax it to the School of Management and Business ( Trustee Hall 321, fax# 233-1622). Incomplete requests will NOT be considered. Forms may be submitted any time after the class is filled; however, overloads will not be processed until three business days prior to the first day of class.
  • The Associate Dean will review your request and make a decision based on class space, ranking, and prerequisite demands. Students will be notified via email about the results of their requests.
  • If your request is approved, you must register for the class requested within 24 hours, otherwise the School of Management and Business reserves the right to revoke approval in order to meet class demands. The student is responsible for registering for the course using EdWeb and meeting the deadline.

School of Management and Business Policy for Late Add Admission to a Course:

Students may add and drop courses via the EdWeb system from the beginning of the registration period to the Add/Drop Date deadline. For the time period after the Add/Drop Date deadline and up to the 12th Class Day, the School of Management and Business will accept petitions for Late Add Admission to a Course in exceptional circumstances.

Students may petition the Dean of the School of Management and Business for Late Add of a Course by the following steps:

  • Obtain a standard Petition for Administrative Schedule Adjustment and Refund Request form from the School of Management and Business Office, Trustee Hall 321. (E-mail requests will NOT be accepted.)
  • Complete the form and hand-deliver or fax it to the Administrative Secretary of the office of the Dean of the School of Management and Business (Trustee Hall 321, fax# 233-1622) before the 12th Class Day. The extenuating circumstances that justify your petition need to be adequately explained and documented. Confidential information included in the petition may be submitted or attached in an envelope marked "confidential". Incomplete petitions will NOT be considered.
  • The Dean will review your request and make a decision no later than the close of business the following day. You may call (448-8696) or visit the Administrative Secretary to find out if your request was approved or denied.
  • If your request is approved, you must register for the class requested before 5pm on the published 12th Class Day. The student is responsible for registering for the course using EdWeb and meeting the deadline.

Financial considerations
Adding a class and subsequently dropping a class during the Late Add period may not be an equal financial exchange. Dropping a class after the University published date for the Last Day to Add a course may result in a refund of less than 100%.
