Counseling Appointments
Scheduling an initial consultation at the center can be done by phone or in person. Counseling sessions are typically scheduled for 45-50 minutes. Clients should arrive at the center 15 minutes before the initial consultation to complete paperwork. Because the center also is a training facility, the counselor may be an advanced graduate student trainee under the supervision of a senior staff psychologist. For quality assurance and supervision purposes, trainees may audio or videotape counseling sessions with the client's consent. Tapes are confidential and erased after supervision is complete.
Cancellation Policy
Due to the heavy demand for services, cancellation of an appointment is required at least 24 hours in advance so that the appointment time may be utilized by another client. When a client fails to cancel and misses two consecutive appointments, the client may be asked to come back through the initial consultation process to re-establish counseling services. If a client repeatedly misses scheduled appointments and reasonable accommodations have been offered, the client will be referred to appropriate professional service providers in the Austin community or may be required to consult with the CCC director before any additional counseling sessions can be scheduled. |
