Judicial Sanctions
In collaboration with Residence Life, Athletics, and the Dean of Students Office, the Counseling & Consultation Center provides an alcohol and other drugs education program. People who encounter difficulty in areas of safe and healthy choices may be referred to the Alcohol and Other Drugs Education Program.
The Alcohol & Other Drug Education is part of a comprehensive, campus wide initiative to correct misperceptions related to alcohol use and misuse, curb underage drinking, reduce the hazards of alcohol misuse, and promote responsible alternatives. There are two components to the Alcohol & Other Drug Education program:
- Phase I - Alcohol & Other Drug Introduction: Involves participating in online alcohol and marijuana education programs (i.e., e-CHUG , AlcoholEdu for Sanctions and e-TOKE). The online programs provide practical information about alcohol and marijuana use to increase knowledge, awareness, and means to make safe and healthy choices. Moreover, students participate in small groups called Alcohol Skills Training, which is an interactive presentation about the college students and alcohol use.
- Phase II - Individual Alcohol & Other Drug Assessment: Includes a comprehensive alcohol & other drug individual assessment and online Alcohol Innerview. The student meets with a clinican one-on-one to discuss their alcohol use/misuse, review policies related to alcohol use, provide information about their use of alcohol, as well as identifying alternatives to possibly manage alcohol more effectively. If it is determined that the student's assessment results suggest that there may be hazards related to their use or indication of a more serious alcohol abuse or dependency, referrals to services and/or additional follow up will be provided to on campus or community resources.
