Selia joined the SEU Psychological Services team as a Staff Psychologist August 2002. She has extensive experience as a Mental Health Provider; she received her Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology, August, 2002 and her Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy in December 1987, from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. She is the first professional to receive her certification as a Provider of Psychological Services for Spanish Speaking Populations from Our Lady of the Lake University. She completed her doctoral internship at Southwest Texas University, in San Marcos, Texas. She received her Bachelor's of Art's in Psychology from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas and her Nursing Diploma from Northwest Texas School of Nursing and Amarillo College, in Amarillo, Texas.
Selia has provided counseling and consultation in a variety of settings such as university counseling centers, community mental health centers and private practice. Her interest is in understanding the creation of solutions from an emic lens and through the use of meaningful dialogues. Selia enjoys venturing into innovative and creative projects. One such project was recognized by the American Psychological Association while she was supervising Spanish Speaking counseling teams and assisting in the development of an innovative and one of a kind cutting edge program at OLLU. Selia was featured in the Publication of the American Psychological Association magazine the Monitor on Psychology in 2002. She has provided numerous presentations and has served as adjunct faculty at OLLU.
