Barbara Henderson came to the Career Planning office with a rich background in
career counseling. She has also served as program administrator, account manager,
teacher, college advisor, crises counselor, and career development specialist.
She has taught classes in career planning, communication and social science. She
created internship opportunities for college students, supervised college interns,
and recruited business for on-campus hiring opportunities. She has provided academic
advising, counseling and crises interventions for college students of all ages
and backgrounds. As a program administrator for a high profile career center, she
supervised the work of other career counselors, created outplacement workshops,
administered and interpreted career assessments, and provided job search strategies
to those in transition.
Prior to coming to St. Edward's University, she served as the Volunteer Coordinator
for a 700-bed hospital where she recruited, interviewed, screened, trained and
placed their volunteers. While there, she developed internship opportunities for
college students who needed to gain experience in physical therapy, occupational
therapy, speech pathology, and pharmacology.
As the Director of the Career Planning office, Barbara works closely with the
SEU Alumni and the Austin community to develop internship opportunities and job
development. |

| John Lucas, Career Counselor |

John Lucas has been at St. Edward’s since 1966. He received his BA in English
from St. Edward’s in 1965 and earned an M.Ed. in Counseling from Southwest
Texas State University in 1968. He has served the university in a number of positions
from Director of Admissions to Director of the Annual Fund to Vice President of
Enrollment and Student Services to his current position as a Career Counselor.
He has been with the Career Planning office since 1998. During his tenure at St.
Edward’s, he has been involved with a number of community organizations,
including the Austin Children’s Museum, the Austin Area Urban League, and
the Greater Austin Sports Foundation. |

| Emily Salazar, Career Counselor and Adjunct

Emily has been with St. Edward’s since 1995. As a Career Counselor, she
advises St. Edward’s students on career decision-making, career and job exploration,
experiential learning, job search strategies, and graduate school planning. She
is certified to administer the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and has done numerous
on and off-campus workshops to help individuals and teams discover their personality
type and interpersonal work relationship styles. She facilitates a Business Etiquette
dinner for St. Edward’s students to help prepare them for networking and
dining in the business world.
Emily also works as an Adjunct Faculty member. She has taught: Presentational
Speaking, Internship for the
Communication Major, Business Communication, Career Development and Planning, Writing
for International Students, and Freshman Experience.
Emily was Program Coordinator of St. Edward’s Community Mentor (AmeriCorps)
Program through 2002.
Prior to working in higher education she was Director of a Brain Injury Rehab
program and provided work and community re-entry services to patients. She also
worked as a Speech Therapist in hospitals and schools.
Some of Emily’s interests are: music and dance, photography, writing, art,
and travel. |

| Andrew Harper, Internship Coordinator |

Andrew Harper became the University's second Internship Coordinator in May 2007. Prior to joining the Career Planning Office, Andrew worked in the Career Services Office at Texas Culinary Academy in North Austin. At Texas Culinary Academy, Andrew advised students on their search for externships, established relationships with employers and organized on-campus recruiting events.
Andrew graduated from St. Edward's University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing & Rhetoric and was a recipient of the Presidential Award in 2003. As a student he was Student Ambassador Coordinator in the Admission Office and Chair of the Student Leadership Team. Currently Andrew is finishing the Master of Liberal Arts program and serving as Vice President of the St. Edward's Austin Alumni Chapter. |

Elizabeth is an alumna of St. Edward's. She spent most of her professional career at Motorola in the Semiconductor Products Sector. While at Motorola, she held various positions such as Business Manager, Global Supply Chain Manager, and Human Resources Manager with an emphasis on diversity programs. She also spent several years in an academic setting focused on strategic employer relationships at San Juan Diego Catholic High School and the McCombs School of Business.
Elizabeth’s role is to cultivate and strengthen communication with and between employers, students and faculty. She will also develop strategic plans to expand the range of employer recruitment activities at St. Edward’s. |

B.A. Psychology and Sociology, Southern Methodist University
Keri provides career direction and guidance to St. Edward's students. She assists
students with career planning and goals, job search strategies, career exploration
and assessments. Prior to joining SEU she worked in the Department of Psychiatry
at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas. While at Southwestern
she served as a Psychological Associate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and
a Research Assistant in the Bipolar Disorder Clinic. She coordinated research studies
and did diagnostic interviews and therapy with study participants. Keri Interned
in the Career Development Center at Brookhaven College and volunteered in the Child-Life
Department at Children's Medical Center and Head Start of Dallas. |

Rosemary Guzman Hook, Career Manager for New College and Graduate Program |

Rosemary joined the Career Planning team in the summer of 2007. Rosemary comes with experience from the private sector with Fortune 500 companies Dell, AMD, and most recently Harcourt Inc. She has held various positions within the fields of Organizational Development (corporate recruitment, employee relations, training) and Business Development (research, marketing, and sales). Her professional background also encompasses campaigning for the United Way Capital Area, the largest non-profit organization in Central Texas which supports 44 partner agencies as well as two years teaching English in Mexico. Rosemary’s primary focus in Career Planning is to provide guidance for Graduate and New College students as they construct plans that align with their career goals. She will also lead in building career planning programs that support the needs of our adult students relative to networking, resume writing, interviewing, and job search. |

| Elizabeth Narduzzo, Office Manager |

B. A. – Political Science, University of Tennessee
Elizabeth joined St. Edward’s in 1999. She was a Senior Secretary and Administrative Secretary for Physical Plant from 1999-2007. She joined St. Edward’s Career Planning office as Office Manager in 2008. Liz grew up in Mexico, she moved to the United States and lived in Miami, Knoxville, and Iowa before moving to Texas in 1991.
Liz is a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and has been a member of St. Ignatius Catholic School’s Parent Teacher Organization for two years. Liz loves to bake and is well-known on campus for her peanut butter cookie recipe. |
